Job description

a) Police officers protect the lives and property of citizens. They maintain order, catch lawbreakers, and help prevent crimes. In small towns they do many duties and in Larger cities the have more of a structured division of responsibility. Police officers may patrol the streets on foot, bikes, in cars, they control traffic, or work as detectives investigating crimes as they explore further in their career. At the police station officers may be assigned to work in the crime laboratory or the records department. All officers file reports of incidents, and always testify at trials and hearings if needed.

b) Police officers serve the Law to protect the community and make sure everything in our cities is under control and not in chaos. If we did not have laws or a service to protect our community and make sure that were safe everything would be total chaos, people would not know what to do. The general duty that a police officer promises is the protection of lives and property through the enforcements of laws and ordinance. A normal routine for a police officer everyday would be something as little as to check the parking meters for violations, routine patrol, preliminary investigation and traffic regulation and as big as dealing with a murder case and many other brutal scenes. Every time a police officer makes an arrest they have to do lots of paper work that comes with the arrest.
